Safe Sanctuary
The Safe Sanctuary policy is a set of rules our church follows to ensure that our church and all of its programs are safe environments for everyone. The policy is typically thought of as being meant to protect children, but in reality it is designed to protect everyone including children, vulnerable adults, seniors, staff, volunteers, and anyone else who connects with our church.
The Baltimore-Washington Conference (BWC) of the United Methodist Church provides a framework which local churches then use to create their own specific Safe Sanctuaries policy. Ours is defined and routinely updated by our Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC).
St. Paul requires all staff and volunteers, including those working for SPUMPS, to acknowledge and comply with our Safe Sanctuaries policy.
You can find more information on the BWC’s Safe Sanctuaries framework on the BWC website.
